When Do Physicians Refer Patients to South Tampa Voice Therapy?
Physicians refer patients who display one or more of the following conditions:
- Dysphonia
- Dysphagia
- Chronic cough
- Dysarthria
- Gender Affirming Voice Treatment
- Inducible Laryngeal Obstruction (formerly Vocal Cord Dysfunction)
- Exercise-Induced Laryngeal Obstruction in Elite Athletes

How Do Physicians Refer Their Patients?
For the convenience of physicians ordering voice/speech therapy, South Tampa Voice Therapy provides a Prescription Form. The form must specify: voice, swallow, or speech therapy evaluation and treatment with diagnosis, together with CPT Evaluation and Treatment Codes (below).
South Tampa Voice Therapy will complete an assessment and prepare a recommended plan of care for review and approval by the prescribing physician/medical provider. Patient treatment will be completed when physician approval has been received.

When and where can I receive services?
Speech therapy can be ordered by your physician, most often a neurologist or primary care physician. Please contact South Tampa Voice Therapy to schedule your comprehensive assessment. SPEAK OUT! is offered Monday-Friday from 8am to 5pm either in person at South Tampa Voice therapy or virtual through telehealth.
What costs are associated with these services?
We gladly accept Medicare, out-of-network Medicare Advantage Plans, and Tricare. While we are not currently in-network with commercial payers, our commitment to providing quality care extends to verifying your insurance benefits. Our team will diligently assess whether you have out-of-network coverage, ensuring that you receive the maximum benefits available to you.
